Beautifully crafted, sensitive and enlightening, One Hundred Years of Ermintrude, is a breath of fresh air to the poetry arena. Drawing on the imaginative vitality of the magic-realist mode, the book tells the stories of 3 members of one family, presided over by the indomitable Ermintrude, condensing defining moments in each life into stanza form. The result is a highly evocative, affecting poem-story.

The eponymous opening tale of centenarian Ermintrude is recounted backwards, opening with the image of her wreath and ending with her mother s pregnancy, and establishes the probing questions about time and life that characterise the ensuing tales of her children, Tristan and Lucy.

The stories intertwine, musing on family, individuality, and mortality, whilst the prismatic writing bears endless re-listening.

Meditations that help us re-member our humanity in a time where everything is changing all the time, everywhere, all at once. A mix of words heard from beyond, blended with blushes of poetry and wisdom's whispers. Can we get still enough to hear them?

Threshold Verses draws from a collection of poetry spanning several decades. Some of it arrived as stream of consciousness. Some of it showed up on the page before I was aware I was writing it, then got erased and traced again a few times over. It moves through three thresholds — declaration, grief, and waking — and touches loss, Ireland, ancestry, and the question I keep asking in rooms that would rather I didn't. Form or free never mattered to me. What matters is that it finds you in its own time.

Remember, poets are playdates for the brokenhearted.

This journey is a collection of poems I’ve written for children. Many weave together the wonder of nature and its creatures with moments of learning that remind us that we all matter. Children will meet busy bees, fireflies, sunflowers, and others who discover kindness, courage, friendship, and the beauty of simple being themselves.

Throughout my life,

I have found comfort and healing in writing poems and stories.

long before they ever become words on paper.
