Your Guide
Jessica supports others in their journey towards self-discovery, healing and freedom, through Master Plant journeys, Ayurveda, yoga and meditation.
Journey Description
This is a five-day celebration of the Autumn Equinox with meditations and exercises to connect with the energy of the season. Occuring between the 19th and 22nd of September in the Northern Hemisphere, and between the 19th and 22nd of March in the Southern Hemisphere, at the Autumn Equinox, the days and nights are of equal length, after which the nights will be longer than the days and will continue to lengthen until the Winter Solstice. The second of the three Celtic harvest festivals, the Autumn Equinox is a time to celebrate abundance, to pause at the time of balance, and to prepare ourselves for the winter months to come.
During the course, we'll explore some ways to celebrate the Autumn Equinox, we'll look at some Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle considerations for the autumn, we'll practice some alternate nostril breathing for balance, and we'll do some reflection and meditation exercises connected to the season. The Autumn Equinox is a time of abundance when we receive the rewards from our hard work earlier in the year and celebrate the bounty of nature, and this course is intended to bring you inspiration and joy at this time.

Journey Tracks
01 - The Time of Equilibrium
The Autumn Equinox marks the balance between light and dark, where the days and nights are of equal length before we transition into the darker half of the year. The second of the three Celtic harvest festivals, the Autumn Equinox is a time of abundance and preparation. In this first session, you'll be guided through a meditation to see this time of year through the eyes of our ancestors, and understand the significance of this important transition.
02 - Celebrating the Autumn Equinox
In this session, we'll look at some of the things that are often celebrated at the Autumn Equinox, and some ways to celebrate these in your own life. We'll explore the foods and animals that are especially connected with the season and look at the importance of balance, and the transition into the darker half of the year. You're invited to celebrate the season by bringing some of htese things into your own life.
03 - Preparing Your Body for Winter
In Ayurveda, the autumn and winter are the season of the vata dosha, or the air element, so for the next five months or so it's important to be aware of keeping the vata dosha balanced in order to stay warm and healthy over the winter months. This session looks at some diet and lifestyle recommendations to support your body and mind as you begin to prepare for the winter.
04 - Alternate Nostril Breathing for Balance
This session guides you through a balancing alternate nostril breathing practice, to balance your solar and lunar/masculine and feminine sides, and the left and right hemispheres of your brain. You are guided through a sun and moon visualisation as you breathe, allowing you to find a place of clarity and equilibrium through the practice.
05 - Aligning with the Autumn Equinox
In our final session, you'll explore at how the themes associated with the Autumn Equinox are manifesting in your life with some reflective questions. You'll then be guided through a meditation to acknowledge the abundance in your life right now, and to leave anything that no longer serves you in the past as you transition into the next phase of the year.
Equinox Meditation: Yoga Nidra for Exploring Opposites
As mentioned in session two, the Autumn Equinox is a great time for both meditation and for reflecting on balance, opposites and duality. This yoga nidra meditation guides you through the exploration of several opposite qualities. The technique of bringing the awareness to opposing qualities and then experiencing them together allows us to access a non-dual state of awareness, beyond either quality or the other, and invites the mind into a profound state of relaxation. The opposite qualities inclueded in the meditation are heavy/light, hot/cold, stillness/movement and wholeness/separation, along with exploration of the left and right sides of the body. I hope this will bring you some insight and inspiration at this time of balance.
