Journey Description
For thousands of years, the Psalms have given people words for those moments when ordinary language seems inadequate - words for longing and sorrow, for fear and surrender, for love, and for the great mysteries of being human.
A Psalm is more than something to be read or understood. It is contemplative writing - an invitation to become quiet and allow the words to reach beneath the thinking mind.
These Psalms came into being during an intense emotional and contemplative time in my own life.
I found myself drawn to the ancient Psalms, and discovered that while their intention spoke deeply to me, much of their language did not.
And so I did what I have learned to do when words fail me.
I became quiet.
From that stillness, new words began to emerge - words that carried something of the intention of the ancient Psalms, but spoke in a language that felt true to my own understanding and experience.
I have kept the numbers of the Psalms that inspired them, not because these are translations or modern interpretations, but because each carries, for me, an echo of the original.
Together, these three Psalms trace a contemplative journey through the human experience - from the heart’s longing, to a return to presence, and ultimately, to transcendence and a return to Love.
These are contemplations, not prescriptions. Some of their language is intentionally spacious, even paradoxical. They are not meant to deny the reality of pain, loss, fear, or difficult circumstances, but to invite another question: What else might also be true?
The final Psalm carries the journey to its furthest threshold, inviting us to contemplate Love as both our origin and our homecoming - and death not simply as an ending, but as a doorway into a mystery larger than what we can presently see.
As you listen, there is nothing you need to understand, and nothing you are being asked to believe.
Simply allow the words to meet you where you are. Listen not only for what they say, but for what they awaken within you.
And perhaps, somewhere within these words, you will recognize something your heart already knows.
This Journey is offered for personal reflection and contemplative exploration. It is not intended as mental health treatment or as a substitute for professional medical or psychological care. Please listen in a way that honors your own emotional well-being.
